Terms & Refunds
Last updated: 21 September 2026
Who this applies to
These terms cover anyone purchasing or subscribing to a service from Whinstone Digital, whether through a Stripe Checkout link on this site or through a signed service agreement. Whinstone Digital is a sole-trader business operated by Alex Smith.
Support hours
General enquiries: messages are welcome any time, and are usually answered the same day.
Hands-on technical work (fixes, monitoring checks, builds): weekday evenings from 3:30pm, and any time at weekends.
This applies to email, the contact form, and any maintenance or monitoring support requests. Anything urgent flagged outside these windows will still be picked up as soon as possible.
One-off services
This covers the Website Audit, custom website builds, and individual one-off Security Fixes.
- Payment is taken upfront via Stripe Checkout, or by invoice for larger bespoke work.
- If you change your mind before any work has started, you're entitled to a full refund — just email us.
- Once work has started (a report is being compiled, a fix is being applied, a build is underway), refunds are considered case by case, since the time and effort involved has already begun. We'll always try to be fair about this rather than rigid.
- Custom builds follow the payment schedule agreed in your signed service agreement, not this general policy.
Subscriptions
This covers Website Maintenance and Security Monitoring (billed monthly), and any Marketing Retainer once that service line is live.
- Subscriptions are billed monthly in advance via Stripe, starting from the date you subscribe.
- You can cancel at any time by emailing WhinstoneDigital@gmail.com — cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period, and you'll keep access to the service until then.
- We don't offer partial refunds for the unused part of a billing period once it's begun.
- Website Maintenance is only available for Whinstone-built sites, or any other site once it's been through a paid audit and any flagged fixes have been completed first — this is explained on the Maintenance service itself.
What Security services are, and aren't
Security Monitoring and the one-off Security Fixes are hardening and monitoring using trustworthy, low-cost tools and good practice — they are not penetration testing, a formal compliance audit (such as PCI-DSS or ISO 27001), or a certified security assessment. If your business needs one of those specifically, we're happy to point you toward a specialist, but it isn't what's being sold here.
Late payment
For invoiced work (as opposed to Stripe Checkout purchases), payment terms are as stated on the invoice. Late payment may be subject to statutory interest and compensation under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998, consistent with the terms in our standard service agreement.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the business grows — the date at the top will always show when it was last changed. Continuing to use an active subscription after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
Questions
If anything here isn't clear, email WhinstoneDigital@gmail.com before purchasing — always happy to explain.
